ABOUT LOUD ERA

Loud Era tells the story of youth in the post-World War I time period. A core group of eight refuse to resign themselves to their pre-planned futures and decide instead to explore more titillating options.
In other words, "How to grow up in the 1920s when you feel like being selfish."

Contains occasional obscenities and mature themes/images. Some language used may be offensive due to the nature of the time period and the inherent racism and sexism therein. The views expressed by the characters do not represent those of the artist.

Loud Era is sketched, inked, and colored by hand, then scanned into the computer and edited using GIMP.
It has been on the web since March of 2009, although the earliest pages have been taken down due to their relatively low art quality and irrelevance to the canon plot.

ABOUT THE ARTIST Michelle Mau was born in a cog labin on a cold September night over a thousand years ago. Her parents encouraged her love of drawing starting at an early age; by age five, she was called by the Sistine Chapel which asked if she would help them repaint the windows and stuff (she declined, feeling that two people with similar names ought not to work on the same chapel).
During her first year of college, her penchant for old things and antiquerie along with her hobby of drawing came together, and Loud Era was brought to the web. Currently it is #1 on the "Poorly Researched Historical Webcomics List."
Praise for Loud Era includes: "I like that the comic is in English," "Most hands depicted in the comic have the anatomically correct number of fingers, which is comforting," and "The story is entirely unique. How often do you get to hear about white American teenagers coming of age?"

A "History of Loud Era" segment is in the making, so hold on to your britches!
